Crystal Depths
A shaft of day in a dark hall. One crystal, gold-veined, standing where the survey first struck stone.
Crystal Depths is not the Caverns. The Caverns are civic. This is older: a single chamber where the lattice was tested as mineral before it was ever a street.
The crystal is not an altar. It is a record. Light from the circular well above writes the hour onto its faces. Those who sit the steps do so by letter, and they do not speak until they leave.
The house will take you if your clearance says shrine. It will not take you twice in a season.
